Located on Bryant Park in New York City, this spa hotel provides an escape from the wilderness of the city for both tourists and city dwellers. The design concept was derived from a pattern study focusing on Zen gardens. Strip-like materials are used throughout the hotel, with spaces becoming more ordered and human-scale as one moves from public to private zones. The hotel features a lobby bar/lounge, restaurant, subterranean spa, and a 12th floor private spa suite with direct elevator access to the spa below.
